I’ve been seeing a lot of blogs recently about decluttering, a topic that’s near and dear to my post-move heart.
Now that most things are neatly stored away, I sometimes forget what I already own. This leads to embarrassing discoveries when I buy something and realize later that I already have more of the same or similar — often in multiples.

My particular nemesis is skin care, especially bath products. For some reason I can’t resist new ones. Is it because these luxuries are relatively inexpensive? Because of the implied promise of silkier skin, relaxation, leisure, stress relief, or dare I say even a more youthful appearance?
From now on, I’m going to try to remember to check all those carefully labeled storage bins before I succumb to the siren call of another new lotion, potion or emotion.
Does anyone else have this, er, problem?

I suppose it’s one of the more benign addictions, as addictions go, right Tanja? 🙂

Mine appears to be hair conditioner. I had an embarrassing supply when I cleaned out the bottom of the bathroom cabinet

That makes perfect sense to me! Who doesn’t want smooth, flowing hair? Have you found your holy grail product yet?

Yes, but unfortunately I found it when visiting France and they don’t sell it in Australia. Back to the hair care aisle!

I’m always finding wonderful things in Paris pharmacies that I can’t easily find in the US. I wonder if you could find it online. (Of course the shipping cost might make it pointless.)

I enjoy your blog! I also enjoy bubble baths.
I use all my bubble baths, shower gels, etc…
My black hole is tinted lip balms! I buy many and rarely make the time to apply! I walk around with
Chapped lips. My other black hole are earrings.
I do wear and rotate those .

YES, I share this problem! It’s probably the packaging—pretty and full of beauty promises.

I used to have tons of half used (or barely used ) bottles of stuff in my beauty box, until I read this somewhere can’t remember where.
‘Cosmetics that did not work when you first bought them will not magically transform Ilto useful items. In fact 3 moths later they are usually obsolete and fertile ground for bacteria growth’

An excellent reminder! I’m pretty organized when it comes to tossing those; sadly, my issue is unopened bottles that duplicate something I already have and forgot about because I’d put it/them somewhere “safe” 😦
