Today’s COVID-19 Practical Tip: Common Sense

How do you stop an epidemic? A health columnist in today’s New York Times writes,

“If it were possible to wave a magic wand and make all Americans freeze in place for 14 days while sitting six feet apart, epidemiologists say, the whole epidemic would sputter to a halt.”

Good advice wherever you live.  So why in hell won’t people follow it?

It’s crazy making to see busy parks and beaches on the news. Thankfully, people in our neighborhood are sticking close to home and are practicing self-distancing well.

That’s great — where do you live? We are seeing people here in Austin doing what they should, but then I see the news and am completely horrified. What could possibly be worth taking those kinds of chances?? Maybe more news, like the teenager in California who just died, is what is necessary to shake people of our their complacency and misguided sense of invulnerability?

All so sad and so avoidable 😦
